Program Overview

The veterinary education at the Institute of Veterinary Sciences is structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, aligning with international standards. The veterinary program spans six years, divided into two major cycles:

  • Preclinical Cycle (Years 1-3): This phase, under the Department of Biomedicine, covers fundamental sciences, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and pathology.
  • Clinical Cycle (Years 4-6): Managed by the Department of Animal Health, this phase focuses on advanced medical training in diagnostics, surgery, internal medicine, infectious diseases, and herd management.

The program incorporates diverse teaching methodologies, including:

  • Lectures (Cours Magistraux – CM)
  • Directed Practical Work (Travaux Dirigés – TD)
  • Laboratory and Clinical Practice (Travaux Pratiques – TP)
  • Fieldwork and Internships

Up to 20% of coursework may involve independent student research, encouraging critical thinking and hands-on learning. Continuous assessment methods include attendance, participation, quizzes, and project-based evaluations.
