Browse Programs Admission InformationThe Department of French Letters and Language, affiliated with the Faculty of Letters and Languages at Constantine 1 University, offers an academic master's program designed to introduce students to French language and literature, while progressively preparing them for professional life. This training spans four (04) semesters and is organized into several Teaching Units (TU):
Training Objectives
The constant increase in the number of students enrolled in the French bachelor's program not only shows the interest of young Algerians in foreign languages but also the consequences of linguistic and cultural compartmentalization induced by globalization and the imperatives of economic development and employment. The lack of French language teachers at all levels of the educational system, especially in the French departments of Algerian universities, constitutes the essential foundation of the Master's level training in Language Sciences, option "Plurilingualism and Linguistic Variation." This program is also a response to the needs expressed by user sectors (Higher Education, National Education, Private Educational Institutions). The proposed training, both through the subjects selected in language sciences and the methodology of research in human sciences, is intended to be a logical and natural continuation of the LMD bachelor's degree. This training aims not only to develop learners' skills regarding their perception of language uses in society, to report and explain language policies, and the linguistic behaviors of speakers inserted in plurilingual situations but also to intervene on the linguistic corpora of this language within the framework of specific internal planning.
Possibility of transitioning to Master 2 with Language Sciences programs oriented towards social communication (depending on the proposed curricula).
The program is open to students holding a bachelor's degree in French language and literature or a teaching license in FLE (ENS).
