Browse Programs Admission InformationThe Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature (Specialization: Arabic Literature) aims to provide students with a solid foundational training in the fields of Arabic literature and language. This program qualifies students to understand and analyze literary texts, as well as their linguistic, rhetorical, and critical structures.
Over three years, the program focuses on empowering students with literary and linguistic knowledge through a progressive training path:
v First Year (Core Curriculum): Provides the essential fundamentals.
v Second and Third Years (Specialization): Starting from the second year, students specialize in the Literature track, diving deeper into the study of poetry, prose, criticism, Maghreb literature, and comparative literature.
The curriculum adopts an academic approach that combines theoretical lectures with tutorials and practical sessions. Student performance is assessed through examinations and term research papers. Furthermore, the program is dedicated to developing critical analysis, academic writing, and linguistic communication skills. This prepares graduates to pursue careers in education, media, and culture, or to continue their postgraduate studies in Master’s programs specializing in literature and criticism
Core Courses (Foundational Pillars)
1. Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Literature and Language: Studying the fundamental concepts of literature, criticism, and linguistics, while acquiring textual analysis tools and basic research methodologies.
2. History of Literature and Evolution of Literary Genres: Exploring the stages of poetry and prose development across eras (Ancient, Medieval, and Modern), including the characteristics and key figures of each period.
3. Linguistic and Rhetorical Issues: Understanding the grammatical and morphological systems of the Arabic language and mastering rhetorical mechanisms for analyzing literary texts.
4. Research and Expression Skills: Training in academic research writing, documentation techniques, and developing professional editing and communication skills.
