Program Overview

The Law Department of the Faculty of Law and Political Science follows a semester-based teaching system spread across three academic cycles. Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Private Law undergo a six-semester training program, comprising 32 subjects organized into four teaching units as follows:

First Year (Semesters 1 and 2) — 315 hours per semester:

  1. Core Teaching Unit: 3 annual subjects
  2. Methodological Unit: 1 annual subject
  3. Exploratory Unit: 4 semester-based subjects
  4. Cross-disciplinary Unit: 1 annual subject

Second Year (Semesters 3 and 4) — 315 hours per semester:

  1. Core Teaching Unit: 4 subjects (2 annual + 2 semester-based)
  2. Methodological Unit: 1 annual subject
  3. Exploratory Unit: 4 semester-based subjects
  4. Cross-disciplinary Unit: 1 annual subject

Third Year (Semesters 5 and 6) — 337.5 hours per semester:

  1. Core Teaching Unit: 6 semester-based subjects
  2. Methodological Unit: 2 semester-based subjects
  3. Exploratory Unit: 6 semester-based subjects
  4. Cross-disciplinary Unit: 1 annual subject
Teaching Language : The entire program is taught in Arabic, except for the cross-disciplinary unit, which is dedicated to English.

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

The evaluation is based on two main methods:

  • Continuous assessment: 40%
  • Final exam: 60%

Students follow the planned curriculum through lectures delivered in amphitheaters and tutorials (TDs) held in designated classrooms. These tutorials allow students to prepare, present, discuss, and evaluate research every week. This approach aims to enhance their skills in research, analysis, synthesis, summarization, and communication through collaborative work.

Students also sit for semester exams, organized into two regular sessions and two resit sessions each academic year, as follows:

First Year:

  • Semester 1 (Regular Session): Late January – Late February
  • Semester 2 (Regular Session): Late April – Late May
  • Semester 1 (Resit): June
  • Semester 2 (Resit): June

Second Year:

  • Same schedule applies for Semesters 3 and 4

Third Year:

  • Same schedule applies for Semesters 5 and 6

 

Advanced Topics

Private Law is one of the fundamental pillars of the legal system. It governs relationships between natural or legal persons under private law, based on equality between parties, without the State acting as a sovereign authority, but only as a regular party if necessary.

This specialization deepens the understanding of general legal concepts, with a particular focus on fields closely linked to Private Law, such as:

  • Civil Law
  • Commercial Law
  • Family Law
  • Labor Law
  • Civil Procedure
  • Rules of Evidence

These areas structure relationships between individuals and private entities.

Admissions Information

Admission to Private Law is open to holders of the Baccalaureate (equivalent to a high school diploma), with a minimum score of 10/20, corresponding to a 70–80% pass rate.

The application file must include documents related to civil status, academic background, and the student’s health status.
