Browse Programs Admission InformationThe General Linguistics program aims to provide students with in-depth linguistic knowledge, enabling them to understand and analyze language as a universal human phenomenon, and to develop their skills in scientific research and linguistic communication. It also aims to prepare students for graduate studies in linguistics or to pursue careers related to languages. The Linguistic Studies program includes: the first year of the Bachelor's degree (Core), the second year of the Bachelor's degree (Linguistic Studies Profile), the third year of the General Linguistics program, and the Master's degree in Arabic Linguistics.
The LMD system allows students to train towards the first scientific degree, the license. This academic degree is obtained after three years of study, or six semesters. The first four semesters are devoted to acquiring fundamental knowledge in the field of Arabic language and literature in general (ancient literary text, ancient literary criticism, research techniques, Quranic sciences, morphology, syntax, etc.).
The last two semesters, meanwhile, guide students towards specialization and excellence (foundations of grammar, functional grammar, semantics, syntax, etc.).
A grade of 10 or higher in the baccalaureate (Baccalaureate in Literature and Foreign Languages, Literature and Philosophy, Experimental Sciences, etc.)
