Specialization Definition: General Linguistics

Objectives:

  • To establish the importance of the specialization in the linguistic and referential study of texts.
  • To identify the tools and methods of study through exploration, training, and intellectual openness.
  • To enhance the academic level of doctoral students by deepening their understanding and expanding their cognitive fields in the area of linguistic studies.
  • To reveal the contributions of Arab scholars and acknowledge their merit in the creation of scientific and methodological knowledge accumulation, and to recognize aspects of originality in modern Arabic linguistic study.
  • To enable doctoral students to employ modern linguistic study methodologies in reading various texts, both ancient and modern.
  • To develop and advance research in the field of linguistic studies and to keep pace with new developments in contemporary linguistic study.
  • To utilize contemporary linguistic mechanisms and tools to serve the Arabic language and its sciences.

Information Admission

The following conditions apply to all international students applying for doctoral studies:

  • A Baccalaureate (secondary school diploma) or equivalent, according to pedagogical requirements.
  • A Bachelor's degree (Licence) or equivalent, according to pedagogical requirements.
  • A Master's degree or equivalent, according to pedagogical requirements.
  • If the applicant does not speak Arabic, they are required to undertake a one-year Arabic language course at the Intensive Language Teaching Center at the university.
