Program Overview

The Bachelor’s Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology is an academic program focused on research and innovation in the field of life sciences. It is designed for students holding a high school diploma in biological sciences or an equivalent qualification, who wish to acquire expertise in the study of cells and the fundamental molecular mechanisms governing living organisms. The objective is to provide an in-depth education that enables students to master concepts and methodologies at the interface of cellular biology, molecular biology, and biotechnology.

The program explores cellular and molecular processes involved in the regulation of biological functions, with applications in human health, pharmacology, biotechnology, and environmental sciences. Students gain hands-on experience with essential laboratory techniques, such as optical microscopy for cell observation, cell culture for maintenance and proliferation in controlled environments, and electrophoresis for the separation of macromolecules like DNA and proteins.

Additionally, the program familiarizes students with common molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction and quantification, as well as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), which enables DNA amplification and genetic analysis. Students also learn gel electrophoresis for DNA and protein separation, Western blot and immunoprecipitation for protein study, and basic cell culture techniques essential for controlled experimental conditions. These fundamental skills serve as a strong foundation for further specialization in advanced fields of cellular and molecular biology.

Furthermore, the curriculum includes training in basic biochemical techniques such as protein and enzyme assays, chromatography for biomolecule purification, and colorimetric tests to analyze cellular composition. The integration of bioinformatics tools for genetic sequence analysis and data processing enhances students' ability to interpret experimental results.

The acquisition of these essential skills prepares students for careers in fundamental and applied research, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, as well as diagnostic and analytical laboratories. This program also serves as a pathway to higher education, including Master’s and Ph.D. programs, under the supervision of specialized researchers and faculty members.
