Browse Programs Admission InformationKnowledge of construction materials allows civil engineers to choose the most suitable material for the project, taking into account the structure's service conditions. A Master's degree in Civil Engineering Materials provides in-depth training in the properties of materials, their mechanical behavior, their degradation modes, and their applications in various fields of civil engineering. This specialty allows students to deepen their knowledge of the different types of materials used in construction, including concrete, steel, composites, ceramic materials, and polymer materials.
This master's degree also addresses aspects related to materials management, such as quality control, material selection, durability, and performance over time. This program addresses the growing development needs in various sectors (buildings, public works, and civil engineering) and the need for quality control.
This specialty therefore aims to provide the methodological and scientific tools that will enable graduates to participate in research and innovation in these fields of application. - Research laboratories,
· Building and public works laboratories,
· Cement plants, brickyards, agglomerate production units,
· Design offices.
The Master's program consists of four semesters, or two years of study. This specialty focuses on training students in the field of civil engineering materials, from formulation to their use on construction sites.
Courses are organized into lectures, tutorials, and practical work. The courses offered are organized into semester-long teaching units (TUs) covering fundamental, methodological, cross-curricular, and introductory subjects. Each teaching unit may include several "subjects." Semester 4 is reserved for an internship or introductory research project, assessed by a final dissertation and a public defense.
Students learn to analyze the mechanical behavior of materials under various constraints, use numerical simulation models, and conduct experimental tests to characterize materials.
This program aims to train skilled senior managers for the civil engineering sector. This includes an aptitude for:
- Scientific research.
- Technical quality control of materials used.
- Site organization and management.
- Innovation and development in the field of construction materials.
- Development and formulation of new materials.
- Entrepreneurship and business management.
Graduates with a Master's degree in civil engineering materials can pursue several careers, including:
- Design and development of new materials, performance optimization of existing materials, quality control.
- Design and construction of material structures, construction site management, materials consulting.
- Conducting materials research, developing new technologies, and publishing scientific works.
By holding a Master's degree in Civil Engineering in one of the specialties, the student has gained access to applications for a LMD PhD, particularly in the civil engineering materials specialty.
Entry into the program is specifically aimed at students holding a degree in:
· A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
· Public Works
· Hydraulics
· Materials Engineering
· Materials Chemistry (Science and Technology)
· Materials Physics (Science and Technology)
· Metallurgy
· Other degrees in the Science and Technology field
