Advanced Topics

To deliver an effective undergraduate program, we adopt an integrated and multidimensional approach that considers both the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching French. This approach promotes interactive teaching and the use of educational technologies, drawing on a fundamental set of pedagogical methodologies:

1. The communicative approach

It emphasizes interaction rather than grammatical rules, thus encouraging the use of language in authentic situations. This approach aims to build student fluency and confidence through practical activities and dialogues.

2. The skills-based approach

It focuses on the development of the four fundamental language skills:

Listening comprehension: acquisition of strategies for understanding conversations, films and natural exchanges.

Oral expression: improving pronunciation, fluency and use of French in everyday contexts.

Written comprehension: development of skills in analysis, inference and critical reading of texts.

Written expression: learning structured writing and improving grammatical and syntactic rules.

3. The approach through discourse analysis and interaction in the classroom

It allows students to better understand the dynamics of exchanges between teachers and learners, by analyzing forms of expression and teaching methods through observation and study of teaching practices.

4. The project approach

It aims to strengthen the autonomy and critical thinking of students by engaging them in the implementation of educational projects: course design, development of didactic activities or analysis of teaching methods.

5. The integration of ICT and e-learning from L1

From the first year, students are introduced to Information and Communication Technologies for Education (ICTE) and e -learning in order to:

  • Discover and use educational digital tools.
  • Develop research and information management skills.
  • Experiment with learning on platforms like Moodle .
  • Promote interactive use of educational media (videos, online quizzes, forums, etc.).

6. The integration of educational technologies and digital literacy

This approach, particularly developed in L2 , consists of using digital tools in learning and training students in essential digital skills:

  • Use of e-learning platforms like Moodle.
  • Use of interactive videos, podcasts and language games.
  • Development of digital content evaluation and production capabilities.
  • Awareness of critical thinking when using online resources.
  • Critical analysis and evaluation of online resources.
  • Advanced use of digital tools for production and communication.
  • Learning self-study methods online.
  • Introduction to word processing and layout tools for academic use.

6. The psycholinguistic approach in language teaching

It focuses on the processes of learning a second language and the factors that influence it, studying in particular motivation, anxiety, learning strategies and inter-individual differences, in order to adapt teaching practices to the needs of learners.

7. The problem-solving approach

It prepares students to analyze and resolve issues related to teaching French, using methods such as case studies to examine the challenges encountered in teaching and propose appropriate solutions.
