Program Overview

The Bachelor’s Degree in French Language program aims to provide students with a solid academic foundation in language, linguistics, literature, and Francophone civilization.

It meets the growing needs for linguistic and cultural skills in the fields of education, culture, administration, and communication. Through a balanced combination of theoretical teaching and practical activities, students gradually develop their oral and written comprehension and expression skills.

The program places particular importance on the development of academic skills, critical thinking, and learner autonomy.

It also integrates the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) into pedagogical practices and encourages active student engagement through workshops, directed readings, and collaborative projects.

Graduates are prepared for professional integration in language-related careers or for the pursuit of Master’s level studies.

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

During the first semesters, students follow core courses aimed at establishing solid foundations in the French language and associated disciplines: written and oral language, introduction to linguistics, introduction to literature, university work methodology, and digital culture.

These courses provide the necessary prerequisites to approach the more specialized modules of later semesters.

Advanced Topics

As they progress through the curriculum, students tackle more specialized modules such as French linguistics and discourse analysis, literary studies and text interpretation, French and Francophone civilization, stylistics, research methods in language studies, and languages applied to communication.

These teachings are accompanied by directed readings, practical work, and academic projects promoting the application of theoretical knowledge.

The curriculum notably includes:

·        French language modules aiming for the continuous reinforcement of written and oral comprehension and expression skills;

·        Linguistics courses (phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse analysis);

·        French and Francophone literature modules based on the study of representative texts from different periods and movements;

·        French and Francophone civilization courses allowing for the contextualization of cultural productions within their historical and social frameworks;

·        Textual and discursive analysis modules developing critical reading and argumentation;

·        University work methodology courses (documentary research, academic writing, synthesis, oral presentation);

·        Activities integrating digital tools and e-learning platforms;

·        Practical workshops and group projects promoting the application of knowledge, autonomy, and collaborative work.

The semester-based pedagogical model specifies, for each semester, the list of modules, their hourly volume, coefficients, and evaluation methods, ensuring the consistency of the training path and the progression of learning until the Bachelor’s degree is obtained.
