Program Overview

The overarching objectives of this multidisciplinary doctoral training program is to boost tthe performance of our department through expanding new research areas, to organize regular departmental seminars around the investigated areas, and contribute in the internationalization of higher education. Considering the fact that our department of English at Batna 2 University did not launch a doctoral training program since the academic year 2017-2018, the present program aims to satisfy the needs for professionals in the field of English for our department and other institutions.

Furthermore, this doctoral program is meant to help doctoral students make use of the knowledge and skills acquired in their training, through various courses and seminars, broaden their epistemological scopes, and carry out research work.

This doctoral training project aims to provide doctoral students with the necessary linguistic, cultural, and methodological skills to effectively facilitate the process of teaching English as a foreign language, on one hand; and to endow the students with critical and cultural skills useful when confronted with the inevitability of decision-making over critical issues in foreign language pedagogy, on the other.

The project is feasible through two options: “Applied Linguistics and TEFL”, and “Language and Culture”.

The first aims to explore and highlight the existing relationship between applied linguistics and the teaching of English as a foreign langue. It aims, not only, to equip its graduates with the necessary information about recent theories of applied linguistics.
