Program Overview

This raining programme allows us to move beyond the overly theoretical framework in which linguistics is generally confined. Discourse studies shed light on the critical stance that the receiver of the discourse/text must adopt. This could have positive side effects on the treatment of historical texts related to American-British civilization modules. An impact could also be felt in literary studies, where the literary sign ceases to be the central focus, giving way to the use of CDA tools to uncover the ideological elements hidden behind the aesthetics of literary language. That said, discourse studies/CDA have a strong potential to foster a sense of interdisciplinarity capable of breaking down disciplinary barriers. These same barriers seem to prevent the academic community from having a comprehensive view of the true purpose of university education: shaping a coherent mindset that is deeply aware of the interdependence that connects various paradigms.
