Program Overview

For us, this is a first experience in launching a third-cycle doctoral training program in the field of applied mathematics. Its main medium-term objective is to develop research groups focused on the theory of partial differential equations and their applications in mathematical modeling. This will create a certain mobility and dynamism between the two existing mathematics research teams within our LIM laboratory, and at the same time, help in training our own future teaching staff (recruitment).

  • Doctoral students will first be introduced to well-known research methods (bibliographic research, information retrieval, critical reading of scientific articles, defining and developing an original idea, etc.). Knowledge development will then continue through participation in the laboratory's weekly seminars as well as in various national and international events, with the aim of broadening the collaborative scope of our research groups for better, high-quality scientific output.
  • Doctoral students specializing in fields such as analysis, functional analysis, applied mathematics, and statistics are encouraged to explore the practical applications of these disciplines. They are expected to produce original research publishable in top-tier scientific journals. The research conducted is oriented toward practical applications that directly benefit the national industry, such as optimizing production processes and developing new technologies.

Doctoral candidates apply their skills in applied mathematics to critical issues in public health—such as epidemic modeling—and in the environment, through sustainable natural resource management projects. They play a key role in the development of the digital economy, contributing to the rise of artificial intelligence and big data, thereby positioning our country as a leader in these fields.

Finally, the doctoral training in applied mathematics aims to produce researchers capable of making significant contributions to the scientific community and to socio-economic development. By focusing on high-quality research and interdisciplinary collaboration, this program aspires to make our university a center of excellence recognized internationally, while meeting national goals for technological, economic, and social development.
