Program Overview

Process Engineering

The Process Engineering program trains students to design, operate, optimize, and manage eco-industries (water, air, and waste treatment) or industrial processes in various sectors such as specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, food processing, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and advanced materials, while integrating environmental and energy efficiency considerations (eco-processes).

These industries consume raw materials and energy while generating waste. They involve the transformation of solid, liquid, or gaseous raw materials, utilizing common operations such as fluid transport and heating, mixing, chemical reactions, distillation, filtration, and drying.

As a core discipline of this program, Process Engineering provides the fundamental knowledge required to design, operate, and optimize chemical and biological transformation processes of matter and energy. Given its interdisciplinary nature, the program combines specialized and general training, with tools and methodologies applicable across a wide range of industries, including:

  • Chemical and petrochemical industries
  • Pharmaceutical industries
  • Oil refining and petrochemicals
  • Process engineering and development
  • Environmental management: Water, air, and waste treatment
  • Food processing and bio-industries
  • Process quality and safety
  • Industrial process management
  • Various industries such as metallurgy, textiles, glass, paper, and rubber manufacturing.
