Program Overview

The engineering program in wastewater treatment technology and operations covers courses on the principles of hydraulics, water chemistry, and microbiology, as well as the physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes. The tutorials focus on the modeling of treatment systems, water quality analysis, and process optimization. Practical work includes laboratory analyses to assess the physicochemical parameters of wastewater, pilot tests on technologies such as filtration, sedimentation, and bioremediation, as well as industrial visits to observe the operation of wastewater treatment plants and water recycling infrastructure.

Advanced Topics

Advanced topics include advanced treatment processes such as advanced oxidation, membrane filtration, and electrocoagulation, as well as the management and recycling of sludge from wastewater treatment plants. The program also covers the modeling of hydraulic systems and treatment units using specialized software, the integration of renewable energy in water treatment processes, and the application of smart technologies and the Internet of Things for real-time optimization of hydraulic infrastructure. With these skills, graduates are prepared to tackle challenges related to water pollution, resource scarcity, and the implementation of sustainable solutions for the management and operation of wastewater treatment systems.

Admissions Information

Access to higher education and training is open to holders of a baccalaureate or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification.

A new registration procedure has been implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education since the 2014/2015 academic year, whereby pre-registration, orientation, and appeals for new baccalaureate holders are conducted exclusively online.

To carry out these operations, two official websites are available:
