Core Courses

The Master’s program in Pharmaceutical Chemistry is built upon a solid foundation of core courses that equip students with essential knowledge in pharmaceutical and chemical sciences. These courses include:

  • Advanced Organic Chemistry: Reaction mechanisms, functional group reactivity, and synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant compounds.
  • General and Specialized Pharmacology: Drug action principles, therapeutic targets, and side effect profiles.
  • Quantum Chemistry and Molecular Modeling: Theoretical foundations for understanding molecular interactions and behavior.
  • Physicochemical Analysis: Spectroscopic, chromatographic, and electrochemical techniques applied to the analysis of active substances.
  • Laboratory Organic Synthesis: Practical execution of chemical reactions, purification, and compound characterization.
  • Pharmacognosy: Study of natural substances of plant origin with therapeutic potential.
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Drug design, mechanisms of action, and structure optimization of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
  • Pharmaceutical Technology: Fundamentals of drug formulation, manufacturing processes, and quality control of dosage forms.

Advanced Topics

Throughout the program, students explore advanced subjects such as:

  • Design and synthesis of bioactive molecules
  • Mechanisms of drug-receptor interactions
  • Structure-activity relationships (SAR)
  • Development of novel drug delivery systems
  • Analytical techniques for impurity profiling and trace analysis
  • Extraction and characterization of natural products from medicinal plants
  • These topics aim to prepare graduates for cutting-edge research and innovation in pharmaceutical R&D, regulatory sciences, and industrial formulation.
