Program Overview

Groundwater is one of the most essential natural resources for the survival of humanity and the socio-economic progress of countries. It is therefore considered that relevant knowledge of this resource is an essential and indispensable condition for the realization of all development projects. However, it is obvious that mastering the water problem is not simple due to its complexity. Overall, the availability of groundwater resources decreases from South to North. These resources are heavily used, but mainly in a concentrated manner. This leads to a widespread decrease in flow rates on the main aquifers used, sometimes leading to dramatic drops in piezometric levels. The objective of this doctoral training project is to carry out a quantitative and qualitative diagnosis of groundwater in the steppe region of Algeria.
