It covers a wide range of historical knowledge fields, most notably Ancient History, Medieval History, Arab-Islamic History, and Modern and Contemporary History. The program provides students with academic training based on historical methodologies, critical source analysis, and objective thinking. This enables them to acquire historical knowledge about human history and the achievements of human civilization from ancient times to the contemporary world.
The objectives of this major are diverse and include recognizing the importance of history as the foundation for understanding the present and anticipating the future. Students are introduced to the greatness of the human civilizational legacy left by past nations. It also aims to develop students' thinking methods across different historical periods to enhance their abilities in gathering information from various documentary sources and using information centers, as well as understanding the types and uses of historical sources.
Moreover, the student is equipped with a comprehensive historical knowledge system and trained in scientific research skills, historical criticism, and the use of different methodologies (descriptive, historical, inductive, statistical...) to form objective interpretations. Finally, the program promotes social and ethical values and instills the values of tolerance by rejecting ethnic and religious intolerance—especially for those living in multicultural and multiethnic environments—as the human civilizational effort benefits all individuals and nations.
