The Higher School of Food Sciences and Agri-Food Industries (ESSAIA) was created by Executive Decree No. 17-81 of 18 Jumada El Oula 1438 corresponding to February 15, 2017 on the transformation of the Preparatory School in Natural and Life Sciences in Algiers into the Higher School of Food Sciences and Agri-Food Industries. Born from the desire to create a major school in the heart of the Mitidja specialized in food sciences and agri-food industries, ESSAIA is a unique framework in Algeria for the themes covered and the expertise gathered in the fields of food and agri-food industries.
The main objective of ESSAIA is to train executives capable of putting their multidisciplinary, theoretical and practical qualifications at the service of the various Algerian agri-food sectors. Its ambition is to offer its students quality training in the field of food science engineering and agri-food industries, thus allowing the Algerian agri-food sector to benefit from significant national technical and scientific support.
Access to the ESSAIA is nationally recruited, accessible to baccalaureate holders in the "experimental sciences", "mathematics" and "mathematical techniques" series and whose average is higher than the minimum average set by ministerial circular (MESRS) at the beginning of each academic year. Our student body comes from the different wilayas of Algeria and abroad, which promotes a very diverse culture on campus. Through this selection, we are committed to providing our students with a high-quality education in all areas of food science. We offer a stimulating intellectual environment with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Students can choose from a number of academic specializations that meet their Personal and Professional Project (P.P.P.). Our graduates demonstrate a high degree of knowledge, qualification and skills during their employability.
ESSAIA is a modern institution in terms of facilities and resources that serve both teaching and research ESSAIA has always been committed to improving all facilities that will provide the environment and opportunities for students to excel in their study. These improvements include equipping laboratories (Teaching and Research Support Platform), public scientific services and the research laboratory with the most advanced technological means of teaching.

1. Fulfilling the conditions of access stipulated in the ministerial circular for the pre-registration and orientation of baccalaureate holders of the current year.
2. Justifying the minimum average of access to the preparatory classes of the ESSAIA.
To offer its students a quality training in the field of food science engineering and agri-food industries;
* To provide practical teaching based on: the realization of mini-projects, the preparation of outing, internship and end-of-studies projects, participation in numerous national events and competitions, and the establishment of a School-Business Liaison Office;
*To allow its students to be more competitive and in total immersion in the socio-professional world thanks to the numerous internships in companies and factory visits carried out during the academic career;
*To train graduates who will not only be able to integrate into the agri-food industrial fabric but also capable of academic research.
