Program Overview

The PhD program in Analytical Chemistry at the University Constantine 1 Frères Mentouri is open to holders of a Master's degree (or an equivalent qualification) in Analytical Chemistry or a related field.

Several research areas are explored under the supervision of an enthusiastic and highly qualified academic staff. Research activities are oriented toward practical applications and cover a wide range of economic sectors, making use of a broad spectrum of analytical techniques, including:

(i) Valorization of organic or mineral waste, as well as secondary industrial products, such as sludge generated from drinking water treatment plants;

(ii) Assessment of environmental pollution (aquatic, atmospheric, and terrestrial);

(iii) Emerging techniques for pollution control and environmental protection;

(iv) Development of new materials (such as conducting polymers, activated carbons, nanomaterials, semiconductors, antimicrobial coatings, and photocatalysts) for specific, well-defined applications or for multiple uses, together with the optimization of their performance.

Research topics incorporating more fundamental and academic aspects are also pursued, such as the design and validation of quantitative analytical methods and kinetic modeling in heterogeneous media.

Research projects may be proposed by supervisors or developed in close collaboration with the doctoral candidate, in accordance with the candidate’s interests, aspirations, and research objectives.
