About Us
University Kasdi Merbah Ouargla (UKMO) is a leading academic institution in Algeria, with origins dating back to the Higher Normal School founded in 1988. Over the years, it has undergone significant transformations, evolving from the University Center of Ouargla in 1997 to a fully established university in 2001. Today, UKMO comprises ten faculties and two institutes, covering a wide range of disciplines:
- Faculty of Hydrocarbons, Renewable Energies, Earth and Universe Sciences: Specializing in energy industries, natural resources, and geological sciences.
- Faculty of Applied Sciences: Focused on engineering sciences, including applied physics, chemistry, and materials.
- Faculty of New Information and Communication Technologies: Covering computing, digital technologies, and intelligent systems.
- Faculty of Mathematics and Matter Sciences: Offering programs in fundamental and applied mathematics, physics, and astronomy.
- Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences: Specializing in biology, ecology, biotechnology, and agricultural sciences.
- Faculty of Economic, Commercial, and Management Sciences: Providing education in economics, commerce, management, and finance.
- Faculty of Law and Political Sciences: Training future lawyers, legal experts, and professionals in governance and international relations.
- Faculty of Letters and Languages: Dedicated to literature, foreign languages, and linguistic studies.
- Faculty of Human and Social Sciences: Covering disciplines such as sociology, psychology, and history.
- Faculty of Medicine: Training healthcare professionals in general medicine and related fields.
Additionally, UKMO has two institutes:
- Institute of Technology: Focused on technical and technological training.
- Institute of Physical and Sports Science Techniques: Dedicated to sports sciences and physical education.
With four vice-rectorates, a general secretariat, and 32 departments, UKMO is a dynamic university committed to modernization and internationalization.
