Program Overview

The Bachelor's program in Italian Language offers an in-depth study of the Italian language, literature, and culture, combining advanced linguistic skills with an understanding of Italy's historical and socio-cultural aspects. The program includes courses in grammar, phonetics, translation, and text analysis, as well as modules on Italian civilization, literary movements, and art history. Emphasis is also placed on oral and written expression, with conversation workshops and research projects promoting gradual immersion in the language. Courses in linguistics and teaching methods prepare students for careers in education, translation, communication, and international relations. Internships and academic exchanges with Italian institutions enrich the training by providing practical experience and a better understanding of the cultural and professional context of the Italian language.

Core Courses

In the first year: The first two semesters (S1 and S2) include:

  1. Core Unit: written and oral comprehension and expression, grammar , corrective and articulatory phonetics, introduction to linguistics, study of literary texts
  2. Methodological Unit: university work techniques, text reading and study, ICT and e-learning
  3. Discovery Unit: Civilization.
  4. Cross-cutting Unit: foreign language

In the second year: The two semesters (S3 and S4) include:

  1. Core Unit: written and oral comprehension and expression, grammar , linguistics and phonetics, study of literary texts , culture and civilization
  2. Methodological Unit: university work techniques, text study, ICT and e-learning
  3. Discovery Unit: Introduction to translation
  4. Cross-cutting Unit: foreign language

In the third year: The two semesters (S5 and S6) include:

  1. Core Unit: written and oral comprehension and production, introduction to didactics, introduction to specialized languages, linguistics, study of literary texts, study of civilization texts
  2. Methodological Unit: research techniques, information and communication techniques
  3. Discovery Unit: cognitive psychology, communication science, translation and interpretation
  4. Cross-cutting Unit: foreign languages, national language


Advanced Topics

Advanced topics cover specialized areas such as translation studies and interpretation, text and discourse analysis, as well as applied linguistics for teaching Italian as a foreign language. The program also explores the connections between Italian and other Romance languages, Italy's role in international communication, and the impact of new technologies on language learning. Students are thus prepared for careers in translation, teaching, journalism, tourism, and international relations.

Admissions Information

Access to higher education and training is open to holders of a baccalaureate or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification.

A new registration procedure has been implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education since the 2014/2015 academic year, whereby pre-registration, orientation, and appeals for new baccalaureate holders are conducted exclusively online.
