Browse Programs Admission InformationAquaculture is one of the fastest-growing food sectors in the world. The aquaculture sector contributes significantly to food security, income generation, and poverty reduction. Aquaculture production methods involve different aquatic environments (freshwater, brackish water, and marine water).
The significant potential of aquaculture in Algeria requires the contribution of qualified experts in the various fields of the sector. Through its theoretical and practical content, the training fully meets the objective of training aquaculture sector managers with a focus on sustainable aquaculture and integrated management of coastal zones and aquatic environments.
OBJECTIVES
Through theoretical and practical instruction, as well as internships both nationally and abroad, the Aquaculture Management Engineering program aims to prepare students to work in the aquaculture sector by developing the specific skills needed to sustainably raise, manage, and exploit aquatic organisms such as fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and algae. The general objectives of this program are:
- To acquire fundamental knowledge to understand the basic principles of aquaculture (biology of the species farmed, production systems, aquatic environmental management, nutrition, reproduction, and health of aquatic organisms).
- To master aquaculture farming techniques (learn modern techniques and best practices for managing aquaculture facilities, such as system design, water management, environmental monitoring, and stock handling).
- To develop animal health skills (understand the main health problems of aquatic species, diagnose, treat, and implement prevention strategies).
- Manage sustainably by integrating sustainability principles into aquaculture practices, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting biodiversity.
- Acquire knowledge of the economic and business aspects of aquaculture, including product marketing, financial management, and market understanding.
- Acquire knowledge of cutting-edge technologies such as aquaponics, remote sensing, genetics, and monitoring systems to improve the efficiency and productivity of aquaculture facilities.
- Learn to develop project management skills (planning, implementing, and evaluating aquaculture projects, integrating time, resource, and team management skills).
- Foster research and innovation to continuously improve aquaculture practices.
