About Us
El Tarf is located in the far north-east of Algeria, on the borders of Tunisia. The particularity of its climate and its richness in animal and plant biological diversity, as well as its agricultural and tourism characteristics, made it a suitable place to host the Agricultural and Veterinary Institute, which has been the basic core of the University since October 1992.
In 2001, the Institute witnessed autonomy in management and became a University Centre on18 th of September 2001, a public institution of a scientific, cultural and professional nature called the "University Center of El-Tarf" under the Executive Decree No.01- 276 of September 18th, 2001.
In 2006, the number of institutes constituting the UniversityCentre of El-Tarf was increased to three(03)and its function was amended by Executive Decree No.06-279 of 16 August 2006.Accordingly, the institutes were as follows: Institute of Nature and Life, Institute of Veterinary Sciences, and Institute of Literature and Languages.
In June 2012, the University Centre of El-Tarf was upgraded to a“University”,which is a public institution of a scientific, cultural and ,according to the Executive Decree No.12-242of 4 June 2012.
El-Tarf University was accredited under the name "University of Chadli Bendjedid" by the Decree of the Minister of Mujahideen No. 01-14 of 23 October 2014.
In order to enhance the university mapping of eastern Algeria, the University of Chadli Bendjedid is now an institution of higher education at all levels :infrastructure, training, cooperation and research, and tends to rise to the rank of major Algerian universities.
