Program Overview

Pharmacy Residency in Algeria: A Pathway to Scientific and Clinical Specialization

Pharmacy residency in Algeria is a postgraduate training program that allows pharmacy graduates to specialize in hospital-based, biological, or forensic disciplines. This program is open to holders of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and is accessible through a national entrance examination organized by the Ministry of Health. The candidate’s ranking determines the choice of specialty and city of assignment.

The program generally lasts four years, combining hospital internships, practical work, specialized theoretical training, and seminars. The pharmacy resident works in departments such as medical biology, analytical laboratories, quality control, or pharmacovigilance, under the supervision of academic hospital practitioners. The training is validated through continuous assessment and a final examination. The awarded degree is the Diploma of Specialized Medical Studies in Pharmacy (DEMS Pharmacie).
