Program Overview

The Field of Science and Technology is a coherent and integrated domain that encompasses various disciplines, from which all engineering specializations of the former classical system are derived. This field offers a structured academic pathway for students who have obtained their Baccalaureate and who aspire to pursue future careers in engineering, enabling them to obtain degrees at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate levels.

Graduates of this program are equipped with the qualifications required to access employment opportunities aligned with their specialization, across both the public and private sectors.

The curriculum is organized into semesters, each consisting of educational units composed of one or more subjects. These are delivered through a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, tutorials, practical work, seminars, projects, and internships.

Each educational unit and its subjects are assigned a coefficient, graded with a mark, and measured in credits (ECTS). The units fall into the following categories:

  • Fundamental Units
  • Methodological Units
  • Exploratory Units
  • Transversal Units

The Bachelor’s degree (Licence) program spans three academic years, structured into six semesters (two per year):

First Year: An introduction to university life, aimed at helping students adapt while acquiring foundational knowledge for building a strong academic base.

Second Year: A phase of deepening knowledge and gradually orienting students toward a specific specialization.

Third Year: A stage that enables students to acquire advanced knowledge and competencies in their chosen field.

Note: At the end of each semester, students sit for first-session exams. If a student does not obtain the required credits (30 ECTS per semester), they are eligible to retake exams during the second session (make-up exams).

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

The first-year curriculum is delivered over two semesters, each carrying 30 credits. It includes the following types of educational units:

Fundamental Units: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

Methodological Units: Practical sessions in core subjects and Computer Science

Exploratory Units: Introduction to careers in Science and Technology

Transversal Units: Language courses

The program is taught in English, with lectures delivered in amphitheaters. Student attendance is essential for understanding the theoretical aspects, which form the foundation for participating effectively in tutorials.

Tutorials (TD) are conducted in classrooms where students solve exercises related to lecture content. In many cases, students are actively involved in solving problems, with the instructor providing guidance. Student participation is encouraged, as it contributes to better exam preparation and can improve their tutorial grades,

Additionally, students engage in practical sessions (TP) in methodological units, where they explore applied aspects of the course material. These sessions are carried out in small groups within laboratories (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Electricity, etc.).


Advanced Topics


From the second year onward, the field of Science and Technology is divided into several specialized branches, grouped as follows:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electromechanical Engineering
  • Automation
  • Electronics
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Irrigation Engineering
  • Process Engineering

Student placement into one of these specializations is determined based on academic performance and ranking in the first year. Success in the first year, along with demonstrated commitment, significantly enhances the student's chances of being assigned to their preferred specialization.

At the end of the first year, students are required to submit a preference form listing their desired branches. Their allocation is based on merit and availability, shaping their academic path and future career trajectory.
