Program Overview

Training Program Overview

This training program is designed to redefine teaching curricula by focusing on skills development in response to emerging challenges. It aims to address two key areas: the production, development, and management of the built environment, and the current issues affecting both the country and the world.

The Architecture specialization follows a Bachelor’s degree track over six semesters, with each semester lasting 12 weeks. The curriculum includes:

  • Core Teaching Units, such as workshops, History of Architecture I & II, and Project Theory I & II.
  • Methodological Units, including Space Management I & II, Drawing and Graphic Arts I & II, and Terminology I.
  • Transversal Units, covering construction materials technology, physics, mathematics, and occasional discovery units that incorporate field trips for practical exposure.

Teaching Language : Français/Anglais

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

General Objectives of the Course

  • Semester 1: Marks the beginning of the training, introducing students to architecture, its language, representation techniques, and fundamental concepts. This initiation involves developing observational and analytical skills to understand architectural projects in terms of form and composition.
  • Semester 2: Focuses on applying previously acquired knowledge. The main objective is to transition from abstract theory to concrete application in real case studies. Students connect theoretical knowledge (geometry, form, organizational principles, artistic dimension) with practical aspects (façade composition, spatial design). This phase includes technical drawing, covering staircases, vertical circulation elements, sectional views, contour lines, and topographical profiles.
  • Semester 3: Dedicated to studying and integrating an architectural project within its broader context, considering physical, environmental, and socio-cultural factors with a focus on sustainability, including:
  • Topography
  • Climate
  • Built and unbuilt environments (sensitive areas)
  • Usage and practices
  • Semester 4: Explores the impact of secondary building elements on comfort and indoor safety, emphasizing the complexity of environmental control in architecture.
  • Semester 5: Encourages students to engage deeply with their cultural heritage, understand their place in history and contemporary society, and develop a strong capacity for contextual architectural intervention. This stage builds on previous knowledge while focusing on personalized approaches to complex problems, considering:
  • Local urban characteristics
  • The immediate project environment (multi-scale urban analysis)
  • Principles of urban design

Each stage progressively enhances students' technical, artistic, and contextual understanding of architecture, preparing them for advanced professional and academic challenges.

Advanced Topics

Architectural Training and Degree Objectives

The architectural training program prepares students to develop a comprehensive and complex understanding of spatial and environmental challenges, ensuring their ability to master architectural design and execution. It equips them with architectural knowledge, but more importantly, fosters a specific way of thinking and representing architectural space.

The goal is to establish an educational framework that enables architects to seamlessly integrate into professional practice, ensuring they possess both technical expertise and a deep conceptual understanding of their discipline.
