Program Overview

The Department of French Letters and Language, affiliated with the Faculty of Letters and Languages at Constantine 1 University, offers an academic master's program designed to introduce students to French language and literature, while progressively preparing them for professional life. This training spans four (04) semesters and is organized into several Teaching Units (TU):

  • Fundamental TU
  • Methodological TU
  • Discovery TU
  • Transversal TU

Training Objectives

Interdisciplinarity is clearly one of the specificities of this program, which aims to prepare students for the changes in foreign language teaching in general and the growing interest in French in particular within our society. The rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in language teaching at all levels, the diversification of teaching publics and situations, and new didactic approaches require constant adaptation of foreign language teachers to different conditions, conceptions, and situations.

Thus, the objective of this FLE didactics training is to:

  • Theoretically and practically train teachers of French as a foreign language. This training is based on an in-depth linguistic study of French and knowledge of linguistic knowledge transmission processes, which involves a thorough analysis and reflection on theoretical approaches and methodological practices of FLE teaching/learning.
  • Train in research on FLE and foreign language didactics.
  • Train executives for language schools and various educational institutions.
