Browse Programs Admission InformationThe architecture training program aims to develop the skills required to produce and improve the built environment. Architecture training enables learners, future architects, to acquire the knowledge and know-how needed to design and construct buildings that take into account a wide range of factors, including functional, technical, and aesthetic considerations.
Through the acquisition of both theoretical and highly practical knowledge, architecture training primarily aims to prepare students for:
In short, architecture training seeks to develop students’ capacities for project management and, consequently, for project ownership in line with current environmental and energy challenges, fully using digital, parametric, computer-aided architectural design and construction tools.
Architecture training is mainly governed by:
Article 22 of Executive Decree 22-208 of June 5, 2022, which establishes the system of studies and training for obtaining higher-education degrees. It stipulates “the acquisition of academic, scientific, and professional skills in the design, execution, and validation of architectural works in the fields of housing, urban planning, urban professions, and the protection of architectural heritage.”
The backbone of the architecture curriculum is the “Project Studio” course. It is considered the core and the fundamental component of the program leading to the architect degree.
The Studio is the space where all acquired knowledge is applied and synthesized. From Semester 1 to Semester 10, the Project Studio is the place of knowledge, know-how, and professional conduct. It embodies the philosophy and practice of architecture, meaning the acquisition of architectural design skills and, at later stages, project management skills.
Training progresses from the initiation and discovery of architecture and its language to the development of the final-year project, regarded as a synthesis of all knowledge and skills acquired during the program. This includes phases of familiarization, mastery of the architectural design process, execution, construction, and even supervision of architectural works.
Additional courses include communication skills (verbal and non-verbal), courses related to architectural history and project theory, as well as technical and technological subjects with methodological and transversal value such as materials strength, construction, structural systems, and equipment.Since architecture involves social and cultural aspects, courses in sociology, anthropology of space and housing, and architectural and urban heritage are also included.
Besides the study trips, the curriculum will help students to understand real-world context and enhance their professional readiness. The whole program will, in fact, shape future architects personality and character through the combination of theoretical knowledge, practical applications in studios and digital technology
Topics related to digital technology, computer programming, open-source software, artificial intelligence, as well as modeling tools and computer-aided/parametric design (CAD, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, BIM, GIS).
Topics related to sustainable development and energy efficiency, using software and tools dedicated to energy and environmental simulation (acoustics, ventilation, interior lighting, night ambiance).
Advanced technology in energy rehabilitation studies, simulation, and diagnostics.
