Browse Programs Admission InformationThe "Applied Microbiology" program is an academic program focused on research and training, in the Microbiology field. The program is intended for students holding a Bachelor's degree in general microbiology.
The objective is to offer training that allows students to acquire and master the conceptual and methodological aspects specific to a program located at the interface between fundamental and applied microbiology. It involves applying microbiology concepts in the fields of microbial ecology, human, plant, and animal health, the chemical industry, microbial biotechnology, agriculture, and human and animal nutrition.
It also provides students with an understanding of microorganism identification methods, biochemical, immunological, and environmental techniques, which allow them to study microbial biodiversity and the multiple capabilities of microorganisms and their potential uses in different fields. Statistical, bioinformatics, and other tools complement the training, facilitating the characterization of microorganisms in complex environments and the study of their diversity and metabolic activities. The acquisition of teaching and regulatory skills also allows students to enter the professional world in the fields of training, research, and development. This program will also prepare students to pursue doctoral studies. Students will be supervised by experienced researchers.
