Program Overview

The program is adapted to the new place that this discipline of earth sciences holds in today’s society, with a very marked orientation towards the fields of ore mineral and energy supply. The aim of the courses is to provide basic knowledge essential for understanding the ore mineral exploration, mining sector, and the phenomena that govern it, and to introduce students to analytical methods commonly used in geosciences: Specialized computer science (GIS...), geophysics and geochemistry. Sufficient space is however occupied by the fundamental aspects that constitute the common framework for geosciences: knowledge of materials (minerals and rocks), geological maps, mapping, mineral deposits, macroscopic and microscopic identification of mineral materials and resources. Field courses are offered in S2 (M1) and S3 (M2) semesters to approve and validate previously acquired skills. These are real field schools with observations and data acquisition during the day, summary in the evening (directed work) and final synthesis at the end of the course (final report). In addition, know the techniques of evaluation and exploitation of resources in relation to the legislation that manages the mining sector.
