Program Overview:

The Master's degree in Islamic Archaeology is a two-year academic program (four semesters) that includes both theoretical and practical courses, in addition to a fieldwork internship and the completion of a final thesis. The training focuses on the study of the material heritage of Islamic civilization in Algeria across various historical periods (medieval, Ziyanid, Hammadid, Ottoman, etc.), while also incorporating modern methods of archaeological analysis and documentation.

Program Objectives:

  • In terms of knowledge, the program aims to train specialists in the field of Islamic archaeology and arts, historically covering the period from the emergence of Islamic civilization to the end of Ottoman rule. Geographically, it covers the regions of the Islamic world that were part of this civilization during the mentioned period, with a particular emphasis on Algeria, and to a lesser extent, the Maghreb.
  • In terms of academic content, the training enables students to gain an in-depth understanding of the various architectural achievements and artistic productions that characterize Islamic civilization throughout its historical development.
