Program Overview

In Algeria, the animal production sector faces many problems and constraints that hinder its development. Consequently, the contribution of science in this field can only be highly beneficial. Thus, the establishment of a Master's program in Agronomic Sciences, specializing in Animal Production, is a first response to this situation. This program serves multiple objectives and will enable:

  • Providing a fundamental education in agronomy while offering specialized scientific and technical training in animal production;
  • Preparing students for the various challenges and issues of the professional world in rural and agri-food sectors by offering them a multidisciplinary agronomic and technological education;
  • Enabling future Master's graduates to open up to international opportunities through mandatory studies in computer science, English, and statistics;
  • Allowing students to explore rural and professional agri-food environments through practical work sessions, workshops, or educational visits to livestock farms or institutions with technical, agricultural, rural, or agri-food expertise.

This training primarily provides knowledge in livestock selection and genetic improvement, animal reproduction and biotechnology, animal nutrition and feeding, management techniques, and analysis of animal production sectors (milk, meat, eggs, etc.), as well as hygiene, control, and the design of livestock facilities. All these elements serve as a foundation for the proper management and optimization of animal production and its environment, aiming to improve the efficiency of livestock farms.

From a research perspective, the goal is to train high-level researchers or teacher-researchers specializing in animal production who master the mechanisms of this field.
