Program Overview

The Mining Exploitation Program provides students with solid foundations both in the theoretical and practical aspects of mining. Students will be able to:

  • Assimilate and master concepts related to mining engineering,
  • Understand the mineral industry within the global and Algerian context,
  • Develop an understanding of all processes and stages involved, from deposit exploration to mine operation,
  • Identify and apply feasibility and profitability analysis methods for mining projects,
  • Master decision-making tools to select mining methods based on geological, geomechanical conditions, and operational factors,
  • Achieve proficiency in applied mathematics, object geometry, and prior knowledge of statistics.

By the completion of the program, the knowledge and skills acquired enable graduates to develop expertise in:

  • Open-pit and underground mining operations, including slope stability studies and underground mining structures,
  • The rehabilitation of mining sites and post-mining activities,
  • Environmental protection.

In addition to the mining sector, graduates can find career opportunities in various fields such as energy, administration, and beyond.

Curriculum Highlights

Core Courses

Open-pit mining

Underground mining

Rock mechanics

Mineral processing

Advanced Topics

Advanced topics include the optimization of extraction methods, rock mechanics applied to both underground and open-pit mining, as well as the use of explosives and vibration management. Numerical modeling of deposits and production flow simulation help improve profitability and the planning of mining operations. Additionally, mine site rehabilitation engineering, mineral resource economics, and the integration of innovative technologies such as automation and artificial intelligence in mining operations are key areas to address the current challenges of the sector.

Admissions Information

Access to higher education and training in Mining Operations is open to holders of a baccalaureate or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification.

A new registration procedure has been implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education since the 2014/2015 academic year, whereby pre-registration, orientation, and appeals for new baccalaureate holders are conducted exclusively online.

To carry out these operations, two official websites are available:
