Program Overview

The Master in Linguistics is a four-semester academic programme (two semesters in the first year and two semesters in the second year). Students must complete thirty (30) credits per semester. During Semesters 1, 2 and 3, students must attend lectures, followed by continuous assessment and examinations. During Semester 4, students are required to prepare a dissertation and defend it in front of a jury.

The core language science courses cover a number of key linguistic theories such as pronunciation, pragmatics, conversation analysis, sociolinguistics and semiotics.

Advanced Topics

Developments in linguistics, particularly in conversational linguistics, have prompted us to give the Master’s programme a direction that enables it to keep pace with current research in the field.

Admissions Information

Students with a bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature or equivalent will be admitted to the Linguistics programme. Admission will be subject to the number of teaching places available
